The Art of Black and White business portraits.
Photographing in a digital age gives us the ability to shoot in natural colour then convert the photo to black and white. The problem is, if you simply hit the ‘black and white’ button, often the results are flat and disappointing. Metro Headshots has spent many hours perfecting our black and white conversion process, allowing us to achieve remarkable black and white business portraits that look nothing short of stunning.
Why Black and White?
There are lots of reasons to consider having a black and white rather than colour portrait. Here are just a few.
More Flattering. As very few of us have ‘perfect’ skin, by correctly adding a black and white filter you can remove a lot of blemishes and rosacea.
Stand out. Sometimes you need to stand out from the crowd. As most profile photos are in colour – it is an easy way to differentiate yourself.
Consistency. When you have photos taken at different times, in different locations or by different photographers, it is hard to get a consistent look. By converting all the photos to black and white, you can come a lot closer to achieving an even uniformity.
Brand Colours. Quite often the final photos will be used on a website or in a proposal. If you have a strong brand colour (bright purple!) it is difficult for a full colour photo to look attractive within that environment. A black and white photo will let the brand colour be the hero.
Why not use Black and White?
Dispite all the advantages of having a black and white portrait – the final result can be a little more somber. If your company has brand values of being vibrant and playful – then a colour portrait would probably be the best way to go.
